It has never been easier to quickly and painlessly assess and treat wax build up. You no longer need to travel to a clinic (unless you want to), as the majority of ear wax issues can be treated in your own home.

Offering community treatment at home has enabled us to help more people who otherwise may have struggled to get to a clinic or to find the time to make an appointment outside of working hours. Many services such as ours aren’t available on the NHS.

Promoting Good Hearing Health

We often take our hearing and our ear health for granted. Our hearing may be affected by many factors and at any age. Common issues include age-related hearing loss, in-ear headphone use, the misuse of cotton buds and often the build-up of ear wax.

When our ability to hear effectively starts to fade, for any reason, many people find the effort required to participate in social activity and conversation exhausting. Hearing loss can lead to social isolation in some cases.

Left untreated, hearing loss is known to be a contributing factor in the development of dementia in those who are older.

What To Look Out For

Ear wax build-up can affect your hearing, your balance, give you discomfort or pain in your ear and also cause issues like vertigo and tinnitus (buzzing, ringing or whistling in your ears), itchy ears and even infections. You should watch out for ears feeling full, discharge, dizziness and coughing. All of these can be a sign of a hearing or ear problem that should get checked out.
We believe no one should have to put up with these feelings longer than necessary.

Home Visits & Appointments to Suit You

We strive to offer you an appointment for ear wax removal within 7 days of your initial enquiry. We can help you by safely removing the blockage of ear wax using micro-suction, now considered the safest method of wax removal.

Wax removal services are not currently offered by GPs in our local area, therefore, a private service like ours is
often your only option.

Visiting you in your own home is all part of our service. We believe you feel more relaxed surrounded by familiar sights and smells and we know it’s not always easy to get transport to appointments,which is why we come to you.

We don’t all drive, or have loved ones to rely on for a lift, which is the reason why Grimsby Ear Care offers a home visit service, to make life that little bit easier. For those of you that do drive, it’s one less hassle that saves you time, fuel and parking cost, especially if the weather is not favourable (something we are regularly treated to in North East Lincolnshire!)

  Adam is a real nice guy I look forward to seeing him we always have plenty to talk about and have a good laugh it’s like having a second brother he does a great job keeps you informed in what he’s doing making you feel very relaxed.   Brilliant experience with Grimsby Ear Care. After being told during a work medical that I had hearing issues and a severe wax build-up, I was understandably concerned, so I got in touch.

Booking was really easy, and I even left a note asking if an earlier appointment became available. On the morning of my appointment, I got a call offering me an earlier slot, which was a great touch.

Adam was excellent—professional, reassuring, and thorough. After checking everything, he confirmed my hearing was absolutely fine and there was no wax build-up at all. I was over the moon.

What really stood out was his honesty and character—he said he couldn’t charge me as he hadn’t needed to do anything. You don’t come across that very often.

  I had my ears micro suctioned at home to see if it helped my recent attack of vertigo, a young man called Adam came to my home, he is a VERY pleasant and absolutely charming young man, he put me at ease, explaining everything and he took a piece of wax out of one ear, no pain at all, just a nice " scratch the itch" feeling, he struggled to get the wax out, but got there in the end

Frequently Asked Questions

Micro suction is now considered to be the safest method of removing ear wax. This is because there is more risk of perforating the eardrum with syringing because you are putting pressurised water into the ear canal. The eardrum is a delicate membrane which can be ruptured. Irrigation or syringing should never be used if you have had a perforated eardrum ever before, even if it were many years ago. There is also a greater risk of getting an infection after syringing because it strips the ear canal of all the wax and natural oils which protect the ear. A small amount of wax is healthy and necessary.

Possibly, yes. There are a few factors to consider though. If you have no underlying hearing loss and an ear that is fully blocked with ear wax, when it is removed you should notice an improvement in your hearing. However, if you have a partial occlusion and sound can still reach the eardrum, or if you have a hearing loss, having the wax removed may not make any difference to your hearing. If you are still having problems hearing after wax removal, we would recommend having a hearing assessment.

This is one of those ‘how long is a piece of string?’ questions. For some people, they may only need to have wax removed once in a blue moon, and can go years between appointments. However, some people make a lot of wax very quickly and need to have it removed regularly, for some people this can be every few weeks or months.

No. Wax removal shouldn’t be painful. Before we remove your wax we will show you what it feels like on the back of your hand so you know what to expect.

This really depends on the amount, location and type of wax you have. We allow 45 minutes per appointment, but it may not take this long.
